The Young All Star ups his record to 10-2-1 with 5 KO’s as he impressively dispatched Carlos Jairo Cruz (now 17-2 11 KO’s) in 3 quick rounds at the Gran Arena Cibao in Santiago, DR. DeVaun Lee not only put on a display of speed, power, and technique, he also picked up the vacant WBA Fedecaribe Middleweight title that now ranks him along top some of the best fighters in the world at 160lbs. Starting the first round behind a tight guard and stiff, prodding punches, Cruz was overly aggressive but not effective as Lee was able to duck and dodge around his wild shots. Unique was able to assert himself a bit more by landing snappy shots in between the winging punches from his opponent, landing to the body in the clinch, and placing well timed left and right hands on Cruz’s face. The end came quickly at the start of the 3rd as Cruz tried to come forward with a left hook that was throw almost from the ground up as Lee was able to dodge, weave, and land what is becoming his signature power punch…the overhand right; to the top of Cruz’s head which removed him from his senses. The valiant Cruz tried to stand up in front of his hometown crowd but it was futile as he could not muster up the ability to stand back on his feet as the referee counted him out at the beginning of the third round. We would quick like to give a big shout out to Evander Holyfield’s The Real Deal Boxing Promotions, our manager Felipe Gomez at El Matador Management, the team at Universal Boxing Gym headed by Moises Roman Jr., all of the sparring partners that helped during this camp, and of course the fans and supporters that have always been along for the ride…YASSSSSSS! See you next year with more exciting news!
